SEATTLE – They might be small in size, but Studio Montalvo’s colorful enamel pins are larger than life. Isabela Montalvo is the designer.

“Studio Montalvo is a fun, spirited prop company. It was a fun hobby during the pandemic. I felt like I needed a creative outlet. I didn’t see any pins. for Latinos and wanted to make pins that I didn’t have, ”shared Isabela, a graphic designer by training.

Montalvo’s designs are often a reflection of what she thinks.

“I have a lot of feminist pins, Latinx. I launch pop culture, blockbusters. I’m a millennial and I have a lot of things that millennials gravitate towards,” Montalvo said.

Pins also share a part of its history. Her parents were born in Mexico and immigrated to the United States, where she was born.

Through her creations, she celebrates this migration.

Ten percent of Studio Montalvo’s proceeds go to the nonprofit United We Dream, a youth-led immigrant advocacy group.

Isabela will be selling her designs at the Winter Solstice Night Market on Friday December 17, 2021 and Saturday December 18, 2021. You can also buy her enamel pins online.
