Russell Westbrook’s Honor the Gift label has officially arrived in Los Angeles

How does an NBA superstar (who scored 18 points, grabbed 8 rebounds and dished out 8 assists just this week) do you still find time for fashion? It’s second nature; according to Russell Westbrook, “it’s like hands and feet for me, I’m very competitive.” Along with being a professional athlete, Westbrook Creative runs his Honor the Gift label, which he launched in 2017 with the aim of taking his love for fashion to the next level. And just a few months ago, the Lakers point guard opened the first Honor the Gift store in Los Angeles, in the heart of West Hollywood; as Westbrook explains to vogueit is a place of importance.

“I am driven to find ways to impact communities globally, especially in my hometown of Los Angeles,” says Westbrook, “and to find ways to impact people. underserved and disadvantaged”.

When it comes to fashion, Westbrook has never been afraid to think outside the box. He has a thing for Thom Browne skirts and who could forget his famous internet poncho? But when it came to Honor the Gift and its new outpost, inclusivity was key. “It’s not just for shopping, but [for hosting] community events, fundraisers, whatever, I will be able to use the space to work and be able to connect more quickly with the community,” he continues. In the Honor the Gift store, shoppers can expect the brand’s streetwear classics and polished basics with a subtly genderless approach. Standout pieces include graphic tees, letter-style jackets, knit sets and monogrammed accessories.
