While families often choose to include their address there in case their luggage is lost at the airport, it is best to include a phone number instead.
An expert said USA Today: “Do not put your personal address on baggage tags.” Play it safe by using electronic baggage tags or listing only your basic contact information on a baggage tag.
âVirtually anyone at an airport can see the information written on your suitcase tag, so it’s critical to limit personal information while still providing enough for the airline to return lost baggage.
âMost experts agree that if you can avoid giving your home address, you will be less likely to be the target of theft while you are away.
Richard Clive Rowlands, who travels regularly for events and festivals, also said not to put any other address: your time. ‘
“Don’t put a friend’s house either because burglars don’t know it’s a friend’s house and will break into it anyway – ideally, put a business address and cell phone number on it.”
While losing a bag is one of the worst things that can happen on vacation, we’ve also covered a few of the other tips and tricks for a stress-free next trip.
Take a picture of your bag
Hachi Ko, who has visited more than 200 countries, said, âTake a photo of your luggage, then place it on a word processing document with your contact details and the dimensions of your luggage.
âIf you ever lose your baggage, you can return it to the lost baggage upon arrival and, even if they don’t speak your language, they have everything they need to find your baggage.
Leave a business card
Former Royal Air Force pilot Jonathan Breeze said: “Always put at least one business card in the case – that way the airline can track you down and return the bag to you.
“Name, number, email and you’re back in business.”
Slip on a “Fragile” sticker
Benjamin Black Perley, a self-proclaimed âMulti-million miler,â said, âApparently the Fragile sticker actually gets special attention on your bag with some carriers.
“I’ll have to try next time.”
