Customers looking for high-end clothing and accessories can now shop in the new store Fifth principal location in Mequon.
Owner Mikelle Flanner opened the new site in May after fighting for more than three years to persuade city officials to let her operate in Mequon.
“We’ve worked very, very hard to get here,” Flanner said.
Mequon city officials have previously opposed resale businessesand it took two attorneys and nearly a year to get the company approved under city requirements, Flanner said.
The new store, 1550 W. Mequon Roadis open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Tuesday to Saturday.
New items are added daily to the selection of clothing, accessories, handbags and shoes for men and women. The store carries brands like Gap, as well as more expensive pieces from Louis Vuitton, Hermes and Alexander McQueen, among others.
Fifth-Main also has its own new apparel, which includes contemporary basics, denim, activewear, shoes and accessories.
Flanner said she was looking for a Mequon location because she wanted a bigger store closer to Milwaukee.
Fifth-Main was running out of space at its Thiensville location, and 2017 and 2018 the Thiensville Business District was threatened with flooding three times. This experience was the final straw that prompted Flanner to search for a new location in Mequon.
Since she started working for the company more than a decade ago, Carley Kortendick said the expansion into Mequon was something she hadn’t expected. “I really had no idea what I was walking into,” she said.
Sellers can drop off items walk-in from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday at the Mequon store. At time of drop off, a return date will be scheduled to review store supply, collect unwanted items and collect any payment.
