Yes, the jet black winged eyeliner was a major, but did you see the hair bows the models wore at the Chanel Métiers d’Art 2021 show in Paris on Tuesday? Consider your holiday season hairstyle well and really sorted.
Midnight black ribbons, courtesy of hairstylist Damien Boissinot and his team, were secured into the models’ deep and androgynous side partings via a small (hidden) braid. Even a mention of “hair bow” conjures up images of neat and polished hair, but ribbons – in classic French style – have been dropped on the face and paired with natural texture, a few flyaways and a few soft waves. Nothing was too groomed or polished – think low-maintenance hair with a chic (and easy) touch.
Perfect for the evenings, especially in the height of the holiday season, the hair knot is a great ploy to make it look like you’ve put in an effort, even if you haven’t. Recreating the look simply requires a side parting and a piece of ribbon or a hair clip (options below!).

The hair knot has long been a staple of the beauty looks of the Chanel catwalks. A design originally inspired by Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel, who often cut one in her own hair, there have been many other iconic hair tie moments on the brand’s runways over the years, from Claudia Schiffer’s high ponytail in fall / winter 1995 to Penelope Cruz’s mid-rise ponytail in fall / winter 2019.
