British Airways has partnered with AirPortr to develop new rapid baggage drop areas for passengers traveling in London Heathrow Terminal 5 before heading to the departures hall.
Customers will be able to drop off their luggage during peak hours between 5 a.m. and 10 a.m. at the first drop-off point on the Heathrow Express train platforms.
The AirPortr team seals, secures and checks baggage for customer flights, before collecting them at their destination.
For a cost of £ 19, customers can also book baggage collections online from home. This service allows travelers to check in their luggage from the comfort of their own door, with a licensed delivery driver. AirPortr ensures that once collected, bags are sealed and monitored throughout the delivery process.
Passengers can track their baggage online from the moment they leave their door, or in T5 key access areas, until the bag is loaded onto the plane. Customers using the services also receive digital baggage tag receipts.
Tom Stevens, British Airways Director of Customer Experience, said: “Prior to July 19, we researched and tested ways to ensure that we can provide our customers with the smoothest possible journey through the airport. .
“We believe this contactless initiative with AirPortr allows our customers to skip the queues for baggage check-in and get around the airport without having to carry baggage, while providing the assurance that we do everything possible to ensure the safe delivery of their baggage. bags from the door to the destination.
Randel Darby, CEO and Founder of AirPortr Technologies, added: “We are proud to be able to play our part in helping British Airways and its customers re-launch international travel this summer. Smooth, contactless journeys through the airport are in everyone’s best interest, and removing baggage from the equation makes this possible for many more people. As a specialist in this space, we are delighted to be working again with British Airways to lead the development of new innovative baggage solutions, for the benefit of customers traveling in a post-pandemic world. “
In addition to AirPortr’s baggage service, British Airways also offers a special twilight baggage drop service the day before travel from Heathrow Terminal 5, when customers can drop off their bags at the airport terminal between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m.
