Several of these burglaries took place on Stockton Road in the Meadowbrook section of Abington Township.

Police are investigating brazen break-ins in Abington Township.

“They’re breaking through the back of the house. They don’t care to sound an alarm, ”said Abington Detective Lt. Steven Fink.

Masked thieves are targeting homes in upscale neighborhoods, police say, keeping their eyes on valuables.

“Anything they can find of value – jewelry, money, expensive handbags,” Fink said.

Police said the break-ins took place on three separate nights in the past three weeks in the Meadowbrook neighborhood. Investigators say thieves strike when it is dark and no one is home.

“They’re looking for homes with no lights on, maybe people haven’t come home from work or there’s no car in the way and the mail still in the mailbox,” Fink said.

Investigators also believe the break-ins could be linked to a spate of burglaries in Bucks County. They are investigating whether the same group is involved.

As officers step up their patrols, they ask residents to keep an eye on everything that is happening in their own neighborhood.

“If you’re going for a long time, turn on timers, or have a car that you usually park in the garage, you can park it in the driveway. You can have a neighbor parked in your driveway asking someone to pick up your mail, ”Fink said.
